How to add captions to a video in Arcads, which caption styles are available, how to edit captions, or how to put hooks and CTAs on screen.

Written by Romain Torres

Introduction

Most social ads are watched without sound. Arcads adds captions synced to the audio in 16 styles, plus on-screen text for hooks and calls to action.

Insight: Instagram and TikTok caption styles cost 8 credits, and fixing their text afterwards is free.

Caption styles

16 styles in three groups:

  • Classic: Style 1, Style 2 and Style 3 (animated), 80 credits

  • Text overlay: Insta None, Insta Dark, Insta Light, TikTok None, TikTok Dark and TikTok Light, 8 credits

  • Animated: Glass, Whisper, Glide, Glide 2, Fusion, Terminal and Handwritten, 48 credits per started minute

How to add captions

Step 1: Open Add Captions

In Studio, open Add Captions from the tools. It also works in Workflows, Mark and the MCP.

Step 2: Pick your video and a style

Choose the video and one of the 16 styles.

Step 3: Set position and size

Choose Top, Center or Bottom in Captions Settings and set the text size.

Step 4: Generate and edit

Click Generate. To fix the text, click Edit captions in the Actions panel. Editing is free for the Instagram and TikTok styles. Animated styles are charged again.

How to add on-screen text

Text Overlay puts hooks, titles, CTAs or branding on any video or image in the Instagram or TikTok look. Set the size, position, start time and duration (0 credits). Use it to test different text hooks on the same video.

FAQs & Common Issues

Can captions be animated?

Yes. Classic Style 3 and the seven Animated styles are animated.

Can I get a transcript?

Yes. Transcribe turns the speech in any video or audio file into text. It's free for up to 60 minutes a day per workspace, then 80 credits per hour.

Do captions work in other languages?

Captions follow the audio, so translate the video first, then add captions.

Credit costs in this article are the standard rates. Arcads tests new pricing from time to time, so your account may use different rates or plan sizes. The Generate button in the app shows what each generation costs on your account.
